Cover of Right Choices
God gives us choices, and we often choose wrongly. These wrong choices may cause us pain, but they can help us learn and grow and make better choices in the future. Living with the consequences of our choices teaches us to think and choose more carefully. God provides us with exercises in choice, with rewards for choosing to obey and bad consequences for choosing to disobey. When you are faced with the choice, always choose to love and obey God.
Have you chosen to live or work in bad circumstances? Even though you may be strong enough to resist the temptations, other members of your family may not. While God commands us to reach out to people with God’s sharing love, we must be careful not to become like the very people we are trying to reach.God puts us through a rigorous training program, so that we can be a channel for sharing his love with others.
We all have a key fundamental choice today. We can live for ourselves or live to share love with God. To choose our own way is to travel on a dead-end road, but to choose God’s way is to receive a love-fest in eternal life. We need to always find the choice that shows our love for God.
The non-loving way is enticing because it offers a quick route to prosperity and makes us feel like one of the crowd. But when we go along with others and refuse to listen to the truth, our own appetites become our masters, and we do anything to satisfy them. The non-loving way, even when attractive is deadly. We must learn to make choices, not on the basis of flashy appeal or short-range pleasure, but in view of the long range effects. Sometimes this means steering clear of people who want to entice us into activities that we know are wrong. We can’t be friendly with the wrong way and expect our lives to remain unaffected.
Living right is like posting guard for your life. Every choice for good sets into motion other opportunities for good. Wrong choices follow the same pattern, but in the opposite direction. Each decision you make to share in God’s love will bring a greater sense of order and love to your life, while each decision to disobey will bring confusion and destruction. The right choices you make reflect your integrity. Obedience brings the greatest shared love and safety.
Because, God provides us an example, Jesus, we must love him and live as Jesus showed us to live. The questions “what would Jesus do?” and “What would my lover God have me do?” may help us make the right choices. When God calls you to love and obey him, do you do it with your whole heart, mind, soul and strength. Sometimes the decision to share in this love requires difficult or painful choices. we must leave behind those things that do not help us share that love.
